2025 | sculptural concept card game
Sturmyl is a board game concept built through sculpture. I wanted to create a visual style for a game that doesn’t exist yet, to see what would happen if a game world wasn’t drawn or printed, but shaped by hand.
The result is a collection of sculpted pieces: alien-like creatures, abstract forms, and strange tokens that feel like they belong to another place entirely. They hint at a resource-trading system, but the rules are unwritten. It isn’t a working game, but a visual proposal, a suggestion of how ceramics could bring a different material language into board game design.
You rarely see sculpture in games, yet it offers so much. A game that’s physically built, not just illustrated, changes how it feels to interact with. There’s weight, texture, atmosphere, a sense that the world extends beyond the surface.
