2024 | 6.4 x 8.9 cm | deck-builder card game | 135 cards, 2 tokens
Climate Battle is a two-player deck-building game where players step into the roles of a climate activist and a hedonist. Through a set of action cards representing daily choices: from buying secondhand clothes to getting plastic surgery, they each try to recruit characters to join their cause. Each character offers unique abilities and can shift the direction of the game. The first to recruit four wins.
The game combines simple mechanics with humour and bold visuals to make climate discussions more approachable. Rather than overwhelming with data, it frames familiar behaviours in a way that leads to playful interaction and often sparks conversation. Each card includes a short fact related to the action, offering just enough context to invite reflection without breaking the pace.
All visuals were created through sculptural illustration, then photographed and laid out across 137 cards. While the game itself is a standard card format, the use of sculpture gives the artwork a distinct look and physical presence.
The sculptures can also work as promotional imagery, display objects or collectors’ items. During the RMT x AKI graduation show, the artwork was displayed alongside the game, showing how game-based visuals can reach new audiences in exhibition spaces.
